Freight Energy Forum
Published on March 26 2025
The CCF participated in the Department for Transport’s Freight Energy Forum, which focused on accelerating net-zero infrastructure for the freight sector. Key discussions included Logistics UK’s analysis of road freight energy demand, the maritime decarbonization consultation, and grid development. We highlighted several critical considerations for the cold chain sector’s transition: the need to electrify approximately 100,000 refrigerated vehicles and trailers within the next 10 to 20 years, the increasing energy demands of cold storage despite improvements in efficiency, and the significant potential of cold storage facilities for renewable energy generation and management.
