Number 10 Briefing with Baroness Taylor

Earlier this week, we attended a briefing with Baroness Taylor, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. The session focused on the Planning and Infrastructure Bill, which was launched on Tuesday. It was insightful to hear the government’s perspective on these reforms. The key takeaway was the emphasis on fast-tracking planning to unlock more investment and expedite projects. We raised the issue of why cold storage facilities should be classified as National Significant Infrastructure Projects. It was reassuring to hear Baroness Taylor explain that additional guidance will be provided to ensure that warehousing and freight receive greater consideration in the planning process, reflecting their importance to the country.
